WSIL — Seven Southern Illinois towns will split nearly $3 million in grant money to help spruce up their communities.

The Department of Economic Opportunity grants will go to the following towns:

• Benton
• Cambria
• Creal Springs
• Freeman Spur
• Marion
• Sesser
• Spillertown.
