Here is an excerpt. ) Illinois State Police say a man had a medical emergency before driving his car into Rend Lake. It happened at around 11:47 a.m. at mile marker 79 near Rend Lake. Police say Thomas C. McDonald, 70, of Herrin, was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus northbound on I-57 when he had a sudden medical episode. McDonald veered off the road and into Rend Lake. Two nearby boaters pulled McDonald out of the submerged car and brought him to shore. )
