Statement from the UMWA regarding legislation in the Senate
The proposed Continuing Resolution (CR) provides for healthcare coverage for the next four (4) months. However, there is no guarantee the proposed CR will be approved by Congress, and the proposed CR will not be voted on and decided until the end of this week. Therefore, the only way for Medicare recipients to have guaranteed healthcare coverage on January 1, 2017, is to purchase a supplemental plan today (December 7, 2016). In addition, non-Medicare beneficiaries have until December 15, 2016, to purchase a healthcare plan. To be clear, the proposed CR provides for healthcare coverage for the next four (4) months. Holliday moves on, signs deal with Yankees
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. • As the Cardinals intensify their pursuit of the next outfielder they hope can update the look of their future lineups, three outfielders who they’ve turned to for that in the past already have found new homes. On the eve of baseball’s annual winter meetings, Matt Holliday agreed to a one-year, $13 million deal with the New York Yankees. He follows former Cardinals outfielders Jon Jay and Carlos Beltran out of the market even before the richest — and riskiest — moves of the offseason are made. Two sources confirmed Holliday’s agreement Sunday with the Yankees, suggesting it will be finalized once the All-Star and Cardinals’ longtime left fielder completes a physical.
