Crosswalk Community Acton Agency is setting up appointments and taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which began on September, 2016. The LIHEAP program provides financial assistance to eligible households to help pay a portion of their winter heating bills. Households who have not applied since September 1, 2016, are encouraged to apply. Crosswalk will continue to take applications until May 31, 2017 or until funds are depleted . Crosswalk receives State and Federal grant money, from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to help low income families in Franklin, Jefferson, and Williamson Counties.
The outreach locations are as follows:
FRANKLIN COUNTY: Main Office, 410 West Main Street, West Frankfort
JEFFERSON COUNTY: Illinois Department of Human Services, 333 Potomac Blvd., Suite F, Mt. Vernon
WILLIAMSON COUNTY: Man-Tra-Con, 3000 W. DeYoung, Suite 800-B Marion
The first step in receiving energy assistance, is to visit the outreach site in you county. An application can be made at a later date. Eligibility is based on gross income for the thirty day time frame, which includes the date of application. The guidelines are; $1485 for a one person household, $2003 for two persons, $2520 for three persons, and $3038 for a four person household. Also, you must be the customer of record for the utility company.
Any eligible household who is disconnected from their utility, or who is or at below 25% on a delivered fuel, and unable to get a delivery on their own. may qualify for re-connection assistance. If there are any questions, please call Crosswalk’s man office at (618) 937-3581 and speak to someone in the LIHEAP department. Please do not call the Williamson or Jefferson Counties outreach site.
