Pat Mabry – Belleville, IL (formerly of Benton)

Pat Mabry, 84, of Belleville, IL and formerly of Benton, IL passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in Columbia, IL.

She was born in Benton, IL on May 24, 1932, the daughter of Hobart Ransom Williams and Ersie Estelle Bray West.

Mrs. Mabry was of the Pentecostal faith.

She married Calvin L. Mabry on May 30, 1949, and he survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Pam Tullous, of St. George Island, FL and Lynette Rienholt and husband David, of Millstadt, IL; grandchildren Zac Rienholt, of Columbia, Jennifer Zander and husband Sande, of Westminster, CO, Benjamin Parish and wife Chelly, of Henderson, NV, Dustin Parish and fiance Kelly Givens, of Westminster, CO and Michael Parish, of Austin, TX; one great-granddaughter Dierdre Zander; one sister Betty Bowman and husband Spank, of Benton; one niece and one nephew.

Mrs. Mabry was preceded in death by her parents and by a son-in-law Charlie Tullous.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3 at the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. There will be no visitation and those attending the service are requested to meet at the cemetery.

Ruth Marcella Swisher – formerly of Mulkeytown, IL

Ruth Marcella Swisher, 91, of Benton, IL and formerly of Mulkeytown, IL, passed away June 1, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL.

Ruth was born December 6, 1924 in West Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Charley Young and Hazel (Imhoff) Young.

She is survived by her children, Bonnie Hanks, Johnston City, IL, Bob and Melody Swisher, Mulkeytown and Gary Swisher, West Frankfort; grandchildren Randy and Kristi Meadows, Tami and Rob Austin, Bill Meadows, Lori and Kelly Robertson, Robin and Lance Tullis, Rodney Mandrell and John David Barra; great-grandchildren Hunter Kerley, Matthew Robertson, Morgan Robertson, Bobbi Jo Mandrell, Madyson Meadows, Connor Meadows; one sister Betty Crutcher, Robinson, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Ruth worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA).

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Gilbert Funeral Home, in Christopher with the Rev. Eddie Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, in Mulkeytown.

Maggie Lee Perry – Benton, IL

Maggie Lee Perry, 89, of Benton, IL passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Stonebridge Senior Living Center, in Benton.

maggie 2She was born in Letcher County, KY on March 7, 1927 the daughter of Watson G. and Dora (Kincer) Adams.

She married Edward L. Perry, Sr. on March 25, 1949 in Mayking, KY and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2002.

Her family was her life. She loved cooking and doing for them. She was well known for her 25 years employment at Benton-West City Bonanza.

Mrs. Perry is survived by her children, Kenneth (KP) Perry and wife Diana, of Benton, Edward Perry, Jr. and wife Sheila MacVeigh, of Gibsonia, PA and Lisa Odom and husband Alan, of Benton; six grandchildren Joel Perry and Ashley Taylor, of Logan, IL, Jeffrey Perry and wife Anne of Battle Creek, Michigan, Jamie Lynn Perry, of Chicago, Aaron Odom, of Benton, Kristen Odom, of Benton and Ashley Odom, of Benton; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Benjamin and Lilly Perry and Jayden, Vance and Jameson.

Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by six siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home, in Benton with the Rev. Mark Minor officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home.

Gary Wayne Williams, 57, of Sesser, IL passed away on May 17, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Michael K. “Brillo” Biggs – Ewing, IL

EWING — Michael K. “Brillo” Biggs, age 64 of Ewing, passed away at 10:45 a.m.  Friday, May 6, 2016, at his home.

His wishes were to be cremated.

brilloGraveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.  Military honors will be under the direction of the U.S. Navy and the Benton American Legion Post# 280 and the V.F.W. Post # 2671 of Benton.  Family and friends are to go directly to the cemetery.

Michael K. Biggs was born on August 5, 1951 in Columbus, GA, the son of Kenneth L. Biggs and Marjorie Ann (Schram) Biggs.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and fishing.  He loved all animals, especially his dog “Maggie” and his cat “Cat”.

Brillo had a great passion for motorcycles and was a member of Franklin County A.B.A.T.E.

He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2898 in Benton.

Mr. Biggs was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam War having served his country from November 12, 1969 through February 23, 1972.

Michael K. “Brillo” Biggs is survived by his sister Rhonda M. Rone of Scheller, IL;  a nephew Brian Rone of Scheller, IL; his neighbors, motorcycle friends and their families, and his friends at the Eagles in Benton.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his parents; his wife Susan; an infant brother Robert; and a brother-in-law Dennis “Butch” Rone.

Danny Finney — Pinckneyville, IL

PINCKNEYVILLE — Danny Ray Finney, 51, formerly of Pinckneyville, was born April 3, 1965, in Du Quoin, and left this life on May 15, 2016.

finneyDanny loved hunting and fishing especially with his sons.

He was a member of Volunteer Fire Departments of West City and Sesser. He was a member of Williamson County EMA. He worked for many years for Sesser Post Office.

Dan loved his Cardinal’s baseball, cooking for family and friends, and playing church league softball.

He was a member of West Frankfort Third Baptist Church.

Danny was the beloved father of three sons, Daniel Isaac Finney, Samuel Braden Finney and Adam Alexander Finney all of Pinckneyville; ex-wife, Jeanine (Batson) Finney of Pinckneyville; mother and stepfather Fay (Huggins) and Henry Clark of Du Quoin; stepmother, Sharon Finney of Valier; brothers and sisters, Christina (Raymond) Farthing of Tamaroa, Douglas (Shelly) Clark of Du Quoin, Jammie Queen and fiancé, Matt Bodine, of Sesser, Jeremy Clark of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Jasmine Clark of Du Quoin.

He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Caitlyn Finney; son, Donovan Finney; father, Raymond Finney; grandparents; cousins; brother-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, in Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with Brother Ray Baggott officiating. Burial will be at Nine Mile Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the funeral home.

Nelson Adams – Scheller, IL

SCHELLER — Nelson Adams, 59, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, in Bozeman, Montana, while on vacation with his family.

nelson adamsHe was born Oct. 17, 1956, in Franklin County, the son of Gene and Mary (Rusher) Adams.

He married Christina (Moore) on Jan. 29, 1983, and she survives.

Mr. Adams was retired from DCFS, he currently operated a pawnshop in Pinckneyville. He enjoyed setting up at flea markets and knife shows.

Mr. Adams was a member of the Potter’s Way Church in Frisco.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents; and by a son, Christopher “Chris” Adams.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Christina Adams of Scheller; daughter, Mariah Stubblefield and husband, Kevin, of Benton; sister, Pam Zimmer of Benton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Daisy Moore of Benton; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with Pastor Roger Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Linda Kay Morris – West Frankfort, IL

Linda Kay Morris, 54, of West Frankfort, IL passed away May 13, 2016 at Frankfort Healthcare and Rehab in West Frankfort.

Linda was born July 13, 1961 in Carbondale, IL the daughter of Clarence Wiley and Norma Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Samantha Donelson, and Casey Donelson, both of Mulkeytown; one brother, Carly Wiley, of Smithton, IL, and one sister, Brenda Walta, of Ballwin, IL

Linda was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert Wiley.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Mulkeytown Cemetery with Brother Wayne Brannon officiating. There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Dolores June Doherty – formerly of Whittington

Ronnie Neal Greenwood – Benton, IL

Ronnie Neal Greenwood, 75, of Benton, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Benton Rehab and Healthcare Center surrounded by family. Ronnie was born, at home, in Mulkeytown, Illinois to Henry and Edith (Bauman) Greenwood on October 31, 1940. Ronnie married Alice Wiggs on June 4, 1960, she survives.

greenwoodRonnie was very involved with his family and enjoyed fishing and farming. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, local 702 and the Akin Missionary Baptist Church. Ronnie was a resident at both Mt Vernon Health Care and Benton Rehab and Healthcare Center over the last four years. Both facilities were family to he and his loved ones; they were very supportive and were wonderful throughout his stay.

Ronnie leaves behind his wife, Alice Greenwood, one daughter, Robyn Snow (Mark) and son-in-law, Steven Sniderwin, all of Benton. Two sisters, Phyllis Payne of West Frankfort an Judy Huggins (Wayne) of Marissa and a brother, Lennoth Greenwood (Harriet) of Anabel, Missouri. Ronnie had four grandchildren, Mary Beth Sniderwin of Marion, Andrew Sniderwin (Heidi) of Thompsonville, Matthew Snow (Kirsten) of St. Louis, Missouri and Andrea Snow (Dustin) of Carbondale and four great-grandchildren, Griffin, Caroline, Holland and Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cindy Sniderwin.

Per Ronnie’s request, graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, Illinois, with Rev. Alan Newman and Rev. Howard Johnson officiating.  Friends should go directly to the cemetery for the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Akin Missionary Baptist Church or a charity of your preference; sympathy cards may also be mailed to Mrs. Greenwood’s residence.
