Delmar Jones-Sesser, IL

Delmar Jones, 94, of Sesser, passed away on March 18, 2019.

He was born on February 6, 1925 in Sesser to Stanley and Thelma Pauline (Webb) Jones. He married Sarah (Bowlby) Jones on February 14, 1946 and she preceded him in death on November 14, 1997.

He is survived by his children Linda (Michael) Schoener of The Villages, Florida and Thomas Jones of Chatham, IL; grandchildren Gina (Greg) Risley, Tara Martin, Joshua Jones, Zachary Jones; great grandchildren Martin (Stephanie) Tregoning, Austin Risley, Leo Jones and Rory Jones; great great grandchildren Aubree Rae and Paetyn Joelene Tregoning.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Bates Post # 560, V.F.W. Cox Post # 4753, NRA and Quail Unlimited. He was a Barber in Sesser for over 60 years and will be greatly missed by the community of Sesser.

Funeral services will be on Saturday March 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser with Brother Mark Miller officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Sesser VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be on Friday March 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 Pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser.

Louise Fields Webb – Ewing, IL

Louise Fields Webb, 95, of Ewing, IL passed away in the early morning on Friday, March 15, 2019, at The Anchor of River to River Community of Marion, IL.

She was born on December 16, 1923, to Albert and Alta (Moore) Fields in Hamilton County, IL. Louise was a homemaker and mother. On November 27, 1947, she married Monroe J. Webb.

Louise was a member of Enfield United Methodist Church of Enfield, IL., attended Liberty Baptist Church of Ewing, IL., and Middle Fork-Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Benton, IL. She was also a member of Home Extention Unit, an Election Judge for Northern Township, 4-H Leader, Ewing Grade School PTA and homeroom mother. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Janice Baker of Dixon, KY, Joyce (Randy) Kane of Swansea, IL, Debbie (Ronnie) York of Enfield, IL, and Sharon (Jerry) Corn of Benton, IL; five granddaughters, Kelly (Matt) Gleeson Whitney of Smithton, IL, Jill (Thomas) Louise Baker Meisel of Dixon, KY, Shannon (Ryan) York Webb of Carmi, IL, Kristen (Grant) York Anderson of Benton, KY, Madison Hewitt of Benton, IL; one grandson, James (Kelly) Monroe Gleeson of Silverspring, MD; three great-granddaughters, Allison Meisel of Dixon, KY, Catherine Whitney of Smithton, IL, Charlotte Gleeson of Smithton, IL; five great-grandsons, Tommy Meisel of Dixon, KY, Cole Kingston of Carmi, IL, Nicholas Whitney of Smithton, IL, Jack Gleeson of Silverspring, MD, Tyler Monroe Anderson of Calvert City, KY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by husband, Monroe Jones Webb; father, Albert Shannon Fields, Jr.; mother, Alta Madoline Fields; son, David Webb; grandson, Justin Matthew York; four brothers, Herman Fields, Opal Fields, Harold Fields, Robert “Bob” Fields, and two sisters, Fern Simpson Sneed and Lucille Englebright.

Burial will take place in the Middle Fork Cemetery in Ewing, IL.

Edward “Tank” Lee Connor, 57, of Christopher, IL passed away on March 13, 2019.

He was born on July 23, 1961 to John Connor SR and Betty (Tindall) Dial.

He is survived by his mother Betty Dial of Christopher; step-daughter Khrysty Tolbert of Herrin; one brother Carlo (Carrie) Dial of Christopher; two sisters Robin (Robert) Lenard of Christopher and Tamela (Rick) Grammer of Christopher; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, and three brothers Delmar Tindall, Ricky Connor, and John Connor JR.

Funeral services will be on Monday March 18, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with Rev Cecil Sullivan and Rev Jason Todd officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 PM until the time of the service at 7:00 PM.

Terri (Toms) Schultz – Benton, IL

Terri Schultz, 60, of Benton passed away Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019.

She was born on October 8, 1958 in Benton, IL, the daughter of James Kenneth and Lula Mae (Moore) Toms.
She was employed at Big Muddy Correctional Facility. She enjoyed going to the movies. Her favorite thing was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Terri is survived by her daughters, Sarah Schultz, of Benton and Rachel Ledbetter, and husband James, of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Bailey, James and Hudson; her mother, Lula Mae Toms, of Benton, brothers John Toms, and wife Brenda, of Benton, James Toms, Jr., and wife Jane, of Logan, IL and Larry Toms, and wife Terry, of Benton; sister Linda Girtman, and husband Marshall, of Sesser, IL.
Terri was preceded in death by her Father.

Michael Terry Patchett-Christopher, IL

Michael Terry Patchett, 57, of Christopher passed away on March 12, 2019.

He was born on December 2, 1961 to Edmund “Terry” and Mary Ennis (Snider) Patchett. He married Mary Ann (Harrison) Patchett on June 24, 1989 and she survives of Christopher.

He is also survived by his daughters Tiffanie (Dustin) Young of West Frankfort, Samantha (Levi) Webb of Christopher and Morgan (Max) Garrison of Beebe, AR; grandchildren Kase Michael Young, Korbin Ray Young, Lynnex Marie Webb and Jackson Logan Webb; one sister Elizabeth Patchett and Micah Lewis of Stonefort, IL; one brother Matt Patchett and Yvonne Milam of Mulkeytown.

He was a custodian and bus driver at the Christopher Unit School District #99.

Wanda Tinker, 77, of St Louis, MO, formerly of Christopher passed away on March 12, 2019.

She was born on June 20, 1941 to Dwight and Faye (Furlow) Cook. She married Richard “Dick” Tinker and he survives of St Louis.

She is also survived by her children R. Alan (Lisa) Tinker, Brian Tinker and Steve Tinker all of Dupo, IL; five grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother William Davis Cook.

Cheryle Lynn Sanders, 62, of Sesser, passed away on March 11, 2019.

She was born on May 28, 1956 in Mt Vernon, Il to Stanley and Glenda (Mendenall) Galloway. She is survived by her children David Shaun Melton of Benton and Kim Farley of Michigan; brothers and sisters Cynthia Giodano of Maine, Jackie Macrae of Sesser, Mike (Patty) Galloway of Sesser, Steve (Freda) Galloway of Sesser and Tracy Galloway of Maine. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Catherine Sanders.

Phyllis Ann Maragni – Marion, IL

Phyllis Ann Maragni, 71, of Marion, Illinois went to be with her Savior on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Illinois. She was born October 10,1947, in Calvert City, Kentucky to the late Wilbert and Virginia Jennings Connell.

She married her first blind date Ceasar Allen Maragni on March 25, 1967, in Waltonville, Illinois and they were blessed with almost 52 years of marriage.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband Ceasar and son Brett Allen Maragni and wife, Lacey Bean Maragni and her four grandchildren Chase, Bryce, Grace Ann, and Esther, all of Jacksonville, Florida.
Also surviving are her brother Bill Connell & Linda, sisters Betti Hinz, Linda Sullivan, and Patricia Reeves, brother-in-law Dean Wilson, many nieces and nephews and her beloved Benton Card Club sisters.

Phyllis was a retired educator, teaching 28 years in the Benton Grade School system, most of those serving as a reading specialist at Benton Middle School. She was a member of Third Baptist Church in Marion where she served as librarian and Sunday School teacher.

Known for her infectious smile, Phyllis loved spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren. She was a prayer warrior who loved and faithfully served the Lord her entire adult life.

Almeda V. Tadlock – Benton, IL

Almeda V. Tadlock, 83, of Benton, passed away at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital, Mount Vernon, IL.

She was born on October 24, 1935, to Kirby and Mary Magdelene (Perryman) Irvin in Kincaid, IL. Almeda retired from Dept of Rehab Services. On November 28, 1980, she married Joe V. Tadlock, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2011.

Almeda was a member of Logan Church of God and loved teaching Sunday School, it brought so much joy to her heart ministering to the children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devoted Christian. Almeda enjoyed hosting friends and family over to her home for Bible studies, drawing, painting and singing. She was an avid Wal-Mart and garage sale shopper and enjoyed finding a good deal.

Almeda is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Sue Yardley; two grandchildren, Shane Kenneth Yardley and wife Suzanne and Jaimee Lynn Whitson and husband Josh; five great-grandchildren, Alex Dalton, Sammy Dalton, Kordell Yardley, Ava Whitson and Beau Whitson; one sister, Brozella Odam; and two brothers, Troy Irvin and Ted Irvin.

She was preceded in death by parents, Kirby and Mary Magdelene Irvin; husband, Joe V. Tadlock; a son-in-law, Kenneth “Ken” Yardley; two brothers, Sam Irvin and Donald Irvin; and three sister, Janice Irvin, Betty Meyers and Ella Gunnells.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Logan Church of God in Logan, IL.

Bert William “Bill” Beatty III – Benton, IL

Bert William “Bill” Beatty III, 81, of Benton passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at his home.

He was the eldest of three sons born to Bert W. Beatty, Jr. and Donna Louise Studebaker Beatty. Bill was a 1955 graduate of West Frankfort High School (West Hotdog).
Bill had a passion/love for playing music throughout his life. He was a drummer (percussionist). It started with his high school marching band, then The Marching Saluki’s, and then local jazz bands and orchestras throughout the years. Along with his wife, he was the proud owner of Beatty’s Music Plaza. Providing his passion/love of music to Southern Illinois for over 51 years.

He is survived by his wife Kay Beatty (Teague) formerly of Marion, IL; daughter, Gayle of Orlando, FL; son Bert of Benton, IL; brothers: Dr. John M. Beatty (Kris) and Dr. Michael E. Beatty (Dr. Ann) of Edwardsville, IL;brother-in-law: Tom Teague (Pat) Appleton, WI; Sister-in-law: Mary Jo Twenhafel (Glenn) Gorham, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Beatty was preceded in death by his Father, Bert W. Beatty, Jr., Mother, Donna Beatty of Edwardsville; Father-in-law & Mother-in-law-Julia & Katherine Teague, and two Nephews: Matthew Beatty & Tyler Anderson both of Edwardsville, IL.
