Michael Dale “Red” Roberts, age 59, of Whittington, IL; passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the SSM St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, MO.
Michael was born on December 22, 1966, in Benton, IL, the son of Carl Roberts and Mary Lou (Jackson) Roberts. He married the love of his life, Tammy Carlette Turpin on January 13, 2001, and she survives.
He formerly worked as a laborer with Celebrity Boats and Bombardier Recreational Products.
Mike lived in and around Whittington most of his life, enjoying fishing, hunting, and playing basketball.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Roberts of Whittington, IL; his mother Mary Roberts of Whittington, IL; a son Nicolas Roberts of Whittington, IL; a step-son James Louis Owens and wife Amber of Marion, IL; a brother Karl Mark Roberts of Whittington, IL; a sister Kimberly Overturf also of Whittington, IL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Carl Roberts and a brother Kevin Roberts.
Mike loved Nicolas dearly and they were best friends. Mike also enjoyed spending time with and pestering his nieces and nephews, and he enjoyed playing with all the children in the family.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington, IL, with Rev. Mark Minor officiating.
The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, IL, is in charge of the services.
