Robert Coleman Jackson, age 63, of Benton, passed away at 8:59 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at his home.
Robert’s wishes are to be cremated.
The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
Robert was born on November 3, 1962, in Benton, Illinois, the son of Coleman Jackson and Sharon (Absher) Jackson. He married the former Aletha Benard on April 21, 1990, and she survives.
He formerly worked as a Youth Supervisor at Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park and later became a food manager working for a variety of local restaurants.
Robert enjoyed flower gardening. He loved all plants and even in the wintertime he would start growing plants from seed inside his home to be transplanted in the spring outdoors. His family said he could grow anything.
Robert was a Christian.
Surviving is his wife Aletha Jackson of Benton, Illinois; special close niece and nephew who he helped raise, Katlin Jackson and Michael Kennedy; two brothers: Howard Wayne Jackson of Belleville, Illinois, Jerry Michael Jackson and wife Gena of Belleville, Illinois, two nephews: Matthew Wayne Jackson and Bryce Cameron Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Coleman and Sharon Jackson, his grandmother who raised him Aline (Kirkman) Absher, and a sister Ella Jean Jackson.
