Frank Williams-Benton, Illinois

Frank Martin Williams, age 72, of Benton, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Deaconess Regional Healthcare Services of Illinois.

Per his wishes he will be cremated, and a private family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date.

Frank was born on February 17, 1953, in Benton, Illinois, the son of Martin Luther Williams and Sarah (Cooper) Williams.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Benton American Legion Post#280.

He formerly worked security at Kerr McGee Coal Company, and he was a self-employed contractor.

Frank enjoyed shooting pool, playing board games (especially Yahtzee), and he also enjoyed going fishing.

Surviving is his son Luke Williams of Benton, Illinois; a brother James Edward Williams of Benton, Illinois; two sisters: Ruby Ellen Slayton of Thompsonville, Illinois, Sherry Vercellino and husband Rodney of Benton, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother George Alfred “Turkey Knob” Williams.
