David P. Garascia, 81, of McLeansboro and formerly of Sesser, died Dec. 5 at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Home, in McLeansboro.
David was born April 20, 1931 in Sesser to Charles “Pappy” Garascia and Anna Jean (Fornear) Garascia.
David was a retired coal miner, last working at Old Ben Mine 21 in Sesser.
He was married to Patricia (Clark) Garascia and she preceded him in death. David later married Marjorie (Skibinski) Stanart Garascia and she survives of McLeansboro.
Also surviving is a daughter, Debra Garascia, of Sesser and grandchildren David Smith, Donnie Smith and Tricia Morgan. David is also survived by grandchildren Victoria Smith, Jordyn Hensley, Jack Hensley and Clayton Smith. He is also survived by a brother Carl (Ruth Ann) Garascia, of Benton.
David was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sesser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one son, David C. Garascia.
It was Mr. Garascia’s wish to be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with Brother Robert Sefried officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
