Look, I was as optimistic as anyone about the 2017 Cardinals. I thought the pitching would carry them, that the offense and defense would be middle of the pack and that those things combined with a nice farm system would put them in position to win 90-92 games.
I was wrong.
Consider:
Outside of the series against Philadelphia the Cardinals have won three games this month. Three. In 18 days.
Since they reached their high water mark of 21-15 back on May 14 they’ve gone 10-22.
10-22. That’s a .312 winning percentage in a bit more than a month.
This isn’t just a slump, it’s a trend.
