James C. Vantrease, 81, of Bolingbrook, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Mr. Vantrease was born in West City on Feb. 21, 1931, the son of William E. and Mila (Hall) Vantrease.
He married Barbara J. Huffstutler on Jan. 3, 1953, and she survives.
Mr. Vantrease was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines, during the Korean War. Mr. Vantrease was a retired accountant.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Vantrease is survived by his wife Barbara Vantrease, of Bolingbrook. He is also survived by his daughter Gay Bishop and husband Raymond of LaGrange, and son William R. Vantrease, of Warren, Michigan. Also surviving is his granddaughter Amy Bishop and his sister Joan Gardner, of Fenton, Missouri.
Mr. Vantrease was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister, Esta Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Bert Mitchell officiating.
Burial with military rites will be conducted by the Benton American Legion and VFW Posts and the National Guard will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton.
