SESSER- Former Z-R standout, Tyler Mitchell’s Odin Eagles, defeated the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes, 65-34 in a consolation round game of the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament.
The Tornadoes kept it close in the first half, only down 29-19 but the Eagles outscored the Tornadoes 36-15 in the second half.
Sophomore Lukas Shaffer led the Eagles with 14 points, Gage Roberts 13, and Logan Wood 12 points.
Cole Sanders provided the senior leadership that coach Matt Morgan asked him to at the start of the season with 18 points. Freshman Center Gannon Dollins chipped in nine for Z-R.
Odin improves to 6-4 on the season. They will square off against Thompsonville in a consolation semi-final game at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon.
Z-R falls to 0-8. They will face the Chester Yellow Jackets at home on January 2nd.
