THOMPSONVILLE -On Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at 4:38 pm Deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident involving a shooting victim and armed suspect in rural Thompsonville.
The investigation is ongoing and has resulted in the arrest of Jeffrey R. Herrell age 32 of Thompsonville with aggravated battery with a firearm and attempted first degree murder charges. These are tentative charges pending review by the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The victim is the suspect’s mother, age 52 of Thompsonville. The victim received life threatening gunshot and stab wounds and was initially treated
by Abbott E.M.S. and Thompsonville Fire First Responders.
The victim was flown to an out of state hospital and her condition is unknown at this time. There are no other suspects.
The alleged is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
